The delivery guy tried to fix my A/C

A few days ago, the central AC in my apartment stopped working. It wasn’t blowing any cold air at all even though I had the thermostat set to cool. I called the apartment manager and told him that the central AC wasn’t blowing cold air. He told me to call the maintenance number and schedule an appointment for repair. I called the maintenance staff supervisor and they called an HVAC repair company. While I was waiting for the repair company to arrive, I decided to order some pizza for dinner. I didn’t want to turn on the oven and warm up the house when the AC wasn’t working. When the delivery guy arrived, I asked him to set the pizza on the table. He commented on the warm indoor atmosphere and I told him that the central AC wasn’t working. He offered to fix the problem and told me that he was working as an AC technician during the day. He wanted me to pay $50 and he promised that he could fix the problem. I thought the idea was ridiculous and I dismissed the AC technician from my home. I have no idea if the guy seriously could have fixed my AC problem, but I thought I should wait for the maintenance supervisor or the HVAC crew. About an hour later, the HVAC technician showed up to fix the problem. Luckily, it only took an hour to complete the repair. I was almost finished with pizza when the cold air started to flow from the ceiling ductwork. Thank goodness I didn’t have to spend all evening without air.
