Vacation days are right around the corner and I am ready for fun, sun, and ten days at the beach.
- My wife and I are going to the barrier islands to spend a few days clamming and looking for oysters.
I hope to catch a few gish on my pole as well, but I’m really looking forward to the time away from work. Ever since the beginning of the Covid-19 quarantine, we have been short staffed at work. A few of my coworkers are concerned about contracting the disease and taking it back to their families. Jimmy usually works all of the HVAC repair jobs on the east side of town, but he hasn’t worked since the beginning. His wife has MS and she cannot get sick. Dave is our main refrigeration guy and he has been a certified HVAC mechanic longer than any of us. Dave hasn’t completed an HVAC repair since April, when his Mom and Dad died from the virus. He isn’t going to leave his house until the thing is over. Trevor has two kids home from school and he has to be the stay at home Dad now, because his wife is a lawyer. Many of my coworkers are stuck in their own unique circumstances, and I have been picking up the slack. I told my boss that I need some time off, so we’re going to the beach in ten days and we will be there with no phones or cell service. I can’t wait to get away from everything and enjoy the simple life. Every day I am going to countdown until I finally get out of town.
