How can I direct your call?

Last month I called the Heating plus A/C business because I wanted to have servicing done on my gas furnace.

I couldn’t know the answer I got when someone answered the PC. She asked, ‘How can I direct your call?’ & I almost laughed out loud. I ended up chuckling & she realized what she said. She chuckled too, when she realized she was the only 1 there at the moment. Then she wanted to think what I needed & if it was an emergency. I told her I needed to have my gas furnace serviced but it wasn’t an emergency. She thanked me for being easily patient with the way she greeted me & she hung up. I sat there staring at the PC & I suddenly realized that she hadn’t set up an appointment to have my gas furnace serviced. I picked up the PC & called her back, to have the same greeting. I wondered what she did in her spare time she answered the PC so oddly. When I said hello, she recognized my voice. I told her I hadn’t made an appointment for gas furnace servicing. She apologized again, but this time it was for being so scatterbrained. I chuckled again, but I was a bit miserable. I asked her if there was a Heating plus A/C specialist in the office & she told me they were all out on emergency Heating plus A/C calls. . She was the only 1 handling the office since 7 that afternoon & it was already 6PM. I felt exhausting for her, but there wasn’t anything I could do to help her.
