I have always been obsessed with science fiction, for as long as I can remember.
My dad had an old box of sci-fi novels from the 50s and 60s that I stumbled across in the attic one day, and I immediately became obsessed.
Space travel, teleportation, cloning, laser guns, and most especially robots, I loved all of it! For a while I was so obsessed with science fiction that I stopped caring about science, or math, or English, or any other of my subjects at school. Eventually, thanks to some guidance from my dad, I turned my love of robots into a career when I got into the HVAC industry. Of course we don’t use robots in our work, but the high tech workings of modern day HVAC technology certainly looks like something from a sci-fi novel. Because of my fascination with this industry I always do a lot of outside research and reading about the latest HVAC inventions. Last year I even got to go to the HVAC convention in Las Vegas, which was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Reps from all the major HVAC companies were there to demonstrate and explain their newest models and advancements in technology. One of them was beta-testing a new type of remote controlled drone capable of cleaning the insides of air ducts. The HVAC industry is getting one step closer to robots, it would seem! I am not sure if my boss will send me to the HVAC convention again this year, but I am pressuring him to do so.
