Kids today don’t even know how fine they have it with Wi-Fi, because they have never known anything else! Another thing that younger people don’t seem to fully care about is modern Heating, Ventilation, and A/C technology, which has come a long way in the last few decades… My kid Stacy has a smart temperature control in her household, a single one that can even respond to verbal commands! This means that her teenagers, who are not even tall enough to reach the temperature control yet, can set it however they prefer.
When I was a teenager the internet was still on its baby legs. I basically had to use a horrible invention called dial-up, which used your phone line to connect to the net. It was slow, and downloading even the smallest file took approximately an hour. When Stacy was a kid she knew better than to touch the temperature control, because only I was allowed to do that! In her household she lets the teenagers have free reign over the temperature control device, as if she doesn’t care how expensive the energy costs are! I always have to lay down the law for the teenagers when they come to my household, because they assume they can control the temperature here, as well. That is not the case in the least! Just like when Stacy was a kid, they are never permitted to touch the temperature control. If the temperature control needs to be adjusted, they have to ask me to do it for them.
