We know how to do A/C the right way

I always wanted to travel the world and see the most exotic faraway locales.

  • Now that I have done so, and visited a dozen different countries over the course of a year, I think I have gotten it out of my system.

It’s easy to dump on your own home country, but after my tour I am very happy to be home and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. The toilets in other countries are weird and sometimes disturbing, which was a big factor in my homecoming. Something else that surprised me was a lack of proper climate control in most countries. It turns out that the USA leads the world in HVAC systems, which are much more rare in other places. If I am on a remote island, of course I don’t expect for everyone to have air conditioning. But in a major population hub like London or Paris, I really thought that more places would have climate control. In the United States every single house, business, and rental property comes with a heating and cooling system, it’s expected. Traveling abroad I found that most hotels did not even offer rooms with climate control, or “air con” as they call it there. The places that did have A/C were usually well outside of my price range, so I just did the best I could. With a succession of strange and creepy toilets, and a general lack of proper air conditioning, is it any wonder I was ready to come back home? In America we know how to do A/C right!
