My husband’s dad used to always fix everything around the house, but my dad never did. When we first got married, I used to think that it was so weird that he wouldn’t call for an HVAC repairman whenever our heating or cooling system would tear up. My first instinct whenever something tears up around the house is to call someone to come and fix it. This goes from anything from the garbage disposal in the sink to a dripping faucet in the bathroom. I have no idea how to fix anything like that. I don’t even know how to change a tire on my car! It’s really bad, I know, but my dad just did not ever teach me to do anything like that. However, I could get used to the fact that my husband knows how to fix just about everything around the house. It is really nice knowing that he can change light bulbs and air filters and fix broken refrigerators and clogged toilets. It really makes me feel like I have married somewhat of a man’s man. As a matter of fact, the other day when our central air conditioning system stopped working, he went down to the basement with his box of tools and he had the air conditioning back up and running within about half an hour. I have no idea how he fixed it, because as far as I know, he has never had any classes on HVAC systems. I think he just has a knack for fixing things around the house. I’m glad that he knows how to fix the air conditioning, too, because I know that that would have been an expensive repair if we had had to call the HVAC company.
