My brother always wanted to be an entrepreneur.
He was determined to be a business owner even when we were little kids playing ninjas in the front yard.
He said he was going to sell martial arts supplies, although that dream obviously evolved over the years. When we were in undergraduate school, he started drifting towards computer repair. He left the state college to attend technical school and get his certification in computer repairs. With the sheer numbers of people gravitating towards portable devices like tablets and smartphones, my brother knew there was a market for repair work. He started his own business repairing computers, mobile devices, phones, and MP3 players. This turned out to be a lucrative business for my brother until he started facing lots of competitors throughout the city as the years went by. He had to make a big decision and inevitably decided that he should pivot his business and start anew in a different industry. He chose HVAC because of the sheer demand from both residential and commercial clients. Indoor climate control systems continue to get increasingly more complex and sophisticated as the years go by. So my brother finally sold his computer repair company so he could take the money and invest it into starting a heating and cooling contractor business. He had to attend school to become a certified heating and cooling technician first. He is now running a successful HVAC company and couldn’t be happier. He made the right decision regarding the move to a different industry, especially with something as versatile as heating and cooling systems.
