I see a lot of television ads for nearby heating and cooling businesses

Now that I’m watching cable television again, I’m seeing a lot of advertisements and commercials I avoided for years just consuming a steady diet of Youtube content.

And while I was using Youtube all of these years, I admittedly utilized Ad Blocker software to avoid commercials on their platform.

That’s why it’s so jarring for me to be exposed to so much advertising content again for the first time in years. In some respects, I feel bad for using Ad Blocker exclusively because I have friends who create Youtube content for a living and their bread and butter income is generated from people watching the commercial during ad breaks. But now I’m being exposed to television ads again for the first time in years and it feels jarring, as the target audience is different as well as the way in which the commercials play out in real time. There seems to be a lot more advertisements for local businesses along with national brands that make up the majority of online commercials. In fact, some of the most common TV ads I notice are the ones for nearby heating and cooling companies. I live in a medium sized city with a large variety of different businesses in every industry. Naturally, there are two dozen different HVAC suppliers within a 30 mile radius from my house. If I want to find a company to service my air conditioner or furnace, I have too many choices in front of me. It might be easier if I could narrow down the field of selections a little bit before looking at 30 different businesses to call and vet out.
