Pitching in to help out my neighbor’s HVAC problem

I’m lucky to have the life I do.

My family is awesome, I have a great job inside some great commercial HVAC and I live in a great community.

We actually take care of each other around here. And I was so proud of my community as we rallied around one of our own to be sure she had proper residential HVAC. Our mild winters don’t provide much of an HVAC concern. But when it comes to the summer, we all stick to the inside of our central air conditioning in order to manage the heat and humidity. There is an older lady who is a widow and lives by herself. I think we all sort of look to her as the neighborhood grandma. She’s really spry and even at her age, she really takes care of her house, her property and even has a little garden. But early last summer, I noticed that something was amiss. When I come home from the commercial HVAC of the office, I normally change and go for a brisk walk before dinner. I kept noticing that my neighbor’s heat pump was never running. And the highs during the day were consistently in the nineties by that point in early summer. Turns out, her heat pump had died and she didn’t have enough money to have the heat pump replaced. It didn’t take more than two or three phone calls placed to neighbors before we rallied around this sweet, wonderful lady. Between about twenty five neighbors, we raised enough to get her a new heat pump. And our local HVAC company sold us the heat pump at cost and even donated the installation. Again, I count myself really lucky to live in a community like this.
