Mom kept playing with the thermostat.

She wanted to turned the thermostat up so she could get it warmer in her bedroom

Every time I turned around, my mom was playing with the thermostat. She had the air conditioning on during the winter, and the furnace was turned on in the summer. I saw her twisting the dial on the thermostat like she was trying to find a station on an old radio dial. I kept telling her she couldn’t change the temperature on the thermostat so quickly or so much, but she laughed at me. She thought it was a game, and refused to listen to me. A week later, she called me to her room and told me the heat wasn’t working in the room. She had the dial torn off and some of the wires were broken. I called my husband at work, and asked him to bring home a new thermostat for her room. I didn’t need to explain why we needed a new thermostat because he had told her not to play with it. When he got home, he had the thermostat, but he also had a lockbox to put over it. He said the only way to stop her from playing with the thermostat was to put a lockbox over it. Two days later, she told me the thermostat was broken again. She took her knife from the dinner table, and had forced it in the smalls holes int he lockbox. She wanted to turned the thermostat up so she could get it warmer in her bedroom. We were back to square one, and trying to figure out another way to leave the thermostat in her room, but keep her away from it.
