Love was in the air, and it was making me sick.

Ever since I have been suffering with allergies, I have learned to hate weddings.

I avoided any gathering that had a lot of flowers, like one would avoid the plague.

It sucked when all was quiet and reverent and you were the one sneezing, sniffling, and coughing continually, just because of the flowers. I prayed the church or venue or would have good air purification, or at least plastic flowers, but that was never the case. The problem was that love was in the air for my sister, and it was making me sick. She was dragging me from one florist to the next to help her choose her flowers. I tried taking allergy pills, but they put me to sleep. I tried wearing a mask, but she told me I looked silly, and they didn’t work, anyway. Before entering a florist, I would use my allergy spray as a prophylactic to help stay my allergy response to the flowers. When we went to look at her choice of venues, I groaned when I saw all the fresh flowers. When we got inside, there was a slight smell of the roses, but I wasn’t getting sick. I asked why I wasn’t smelling all the flowers. The manager told me they had an air purification system installed in the HVAC system. Too many people had allergies to flowers and they installed the air purifier about five years earlier. She said the flowers looked beautiful since they were fresh, but the allergens were removed by the air purifier so everyone was happy. I knew I was happy.
