I was afraid I would be a popsicle before the HVAC technician arrived.

I was all prepared to call the HVAC company last month and have the furnace serviced, but I forgot. It was beautiful that weekend, with temperatures in the seventies, and I didn’t give a thought to calling the HVAC company. The following weekend, it turned cold, and we had to turn the furnace on. It wasn’t until the furnace quit running that I remembered I hadn’t called the HVAC company. My husband wasn’t happy that I had forgotten, but he hadn’t reminded me. He told me it was irresponsible to not call the HVAC company, but it was irresponsible on both our parts. We both lived in the house, and he could have made the call as well as I could have. When the HVAC company said they couldn’t give us an estimate of when the HVAC tech could arrive, he got livid. I was afraid I would be a popsicle before the HVAC technician arrived, and he was blaming the situation totally on me. When the HVAC technician arrived the following day, he assessed the furnace and told us it would take about an hour to fix. My husband hadn’t changed the air filter before starting the furnace, and it was clogged from last winter. The HVAC technician said it couldn’t get enough air to keep the furnace running. I looked at him and asked whose fault it was now that we didn’t have heat. He said that if I had called the HVAC company for the inspection, they would have found the clogged air filter before the furnace was needed, and the fight was back on.
