When I was merely a teenager the internet was still on its baby legs… I had to use an invention called dial-up, which used your telephone line to connect to the internet.
It was slow, & downloading even the smallest file took forever.
While you were online the telephones wouldn’t work, except in cases where an incoming call disrupted your internet connection altogether! Kids today don’t seem to understand how good they have it with wireless, because they have never known anything else in their lives! Another thing that younger people don’t seem to fully adore is modern Heating & Air Conditioning appliance technology, which has come such a long way in the last 10 or 15 years. My child Tommy has a smart thermostat in his dwelling, one that can even respond to verbal commands. This means that his teenagers, who are not even tall enough to reach the thermostat yet, can set it in whichever way they want. When Tommy was a child he knew better than to mess with the thermostat, because only I was allowed to do that! In his beach dwelling he lets the teenagers have free reign over the climate control system, as if he doesn’t care how overpriced the energy costs are! I regularly have to lay down the law for the teenagers when they come to my dwelling, because they suppose they can control the thermostat in my place, as well. That is not the case! Just like when Tommy was a kid, they are never allowed to touch the thermostat at all. If the climate control needs to be adjusted accordingly, they have to ask me to do it for them.
