Happy with stationary bike

My husband surprised me with a stationary bike for Christmas. Since I find some way to exercise every single day, the bike was a really wonderful gift. I was thrilled yet didn’t realize how much I would enjoy cycling. Because the weather in my local area is most often wet, chilly and windy, I’m forced to workout indoors the majority of the time. It can be difficult to keep the training sessions interesting. I have limited space in the house and worry about causing damage to home furnishings. The stationary bike is the perfect solution. It doesn’t take up all that much room and operates very quietly. I can use the bike early in the morning or late at night without disturbing the rest of the family. The seat is extremely comfortable, and I’m able to read on my Ipad while pedaling. The touchscreen display makes it easy to navigate through the menu of options. I’m able to target my workout according to duration, miles covered or calories burned. I have my choice of a long list of guided programs that vary intensity. Whether I select “rolling hills” or “stream crossing,” a tap of a button increases resistance and makes for a more strenuous workout. I enjoy riding the bike so much that I sometimes feel guilty. I worry that I’m being lazy. I remind myself to pedal quickly and can burn 500 calories in an hour. When I’m finished, I’m always very sweaty and my legs are tired. The only drawback of the bike is that I’m not working my arms. To compensate, I sometimes hold hand weights and partner arm exercises with cycling.
