There are some days that I really love my career.
I have to admit, most people wouldn’t think that a job in the service industry would count as a long-term career.
However, in my experience the position has been extremely stable and my income has been adequate to support my lifestyle. I don’t see any reason to quit making money in the way that comes most naturally to me. You might laugh, but I am a lifetime barista. I work at a local coffee shop and provide high-quality drinks to all of my favorite customers. I love my job… Except for the mornings when something goes wrong with the central heating, cooling, and air quality control system. You see, the shop isn’t equipped with the most high quality HVAC devices. It’s a tiny hole in the wall with an ancient central heating and cooling system consisting of an old boiler and an outdated air conditioning system. Every so often the entire heating and cooling system fails on us. When we can’t get any heating or cooling inside of the coffee shop our customers are not very pleased. As such, we have to immediately call the local heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership to repair the temperature issue before we open our doors. As you can imagine, trying to juggle a heating and cooling repair service and customers in a tiny little coffee shop can be rather hectic. The days when our air temperature is unmanaged at my work are the days that my cool head can get rather overwhelmed.
