My Dad took me fishing a lot when I was younger.
We had a small boat with a motor and fishing seats.
We would spend all day on the lake or the river. We wouldn’t come home until dinner was ready. My mom never complained about our all day absence. She always had something tasty and delicious for us to eat with a fruit pie for dessert. I think she liked having the house to herself all day just as much as we preferred spending all day on the water. I had so many wonderful times when I was growing up, and my parents were really sad when I decided to move across the country for work. I couldn’t give up the opportunity to head my own team and work on my own project. I had to move to a bigger city to spread my wings. I still see my parents frequently. Last month, I was working on a project four hours away and I arranged for my parents and I to have rooms in the same motel so we could spend more time together. I was excited to talk to my dad about work and the farm. Unfortunately, we had to change our plans at the last minute and that created some confusion. The HVAC ductwork was riddled with black mold and they were forced to shut down immediately. The ductwork needed to be cleaned and sanitized before they could rent rooms again. I was happy for the HVAC heads up, but we were due to check into the hotel the same afternoon.
