When my wife and I moved to the area, we decided to buy a house that needed major repairs.
We were up for the task and honestly needed a project. The house had a lot of issues but none of them seem to be the foundation or structure. Most problems were simple cosmetic issues like paint, doors, and siding. When we bought the house, it was the middle of April. We knew the flooring in the kitchen needed to be replaced and that was going to be one of the first projects that we tackled. Unfortunately, the AC broke down and needed to be replaced before the flooring. A couple of weeks after we moved into the house full time, the AC unit broke down and stopped working. There was no cold air coming out of the vents and we had to contact a professional repair service. My wife and I are very skilled with many projects around the house, but we never tackle problems with the heating or AC system. We also leave plumbing and electrical work to professionals. After the AC unit was repaired, my wife and I decided to finally start tackling the flooring. We removed all of the old tiles and the subflooring from the kitchen. We laid down a brand new floor with marble tiles that we found while on vacation in Mexico. They were expensive to ship to the states, but they absolutely add a lot of color and charm to the house. It reminds me of the place where my wife and I spent our honeymoon.
