Proctored exam goes poorly; my smart thermostat keeps talking

When I decided that I was going to go back to school the world was a different place.

Mainly, we weren’t in the middle of a global pandemic that wouldn’t quit.

At that time, there were limited options for colleges that provided online degrees in the program that I wanted to study. I didn’t have many choices when it came to obtaining my education remotely. Of course, now every college program is going online. Had I known, I probably would have chosen a less obnoxious option. I don’t enjoy how my college has set up their online program. This couldn’t have been more clear than last week when I had to take a proctored exam and my central thermostat ruined the entire academic experience. You see, I installed a smart thermostat in my house about a week ago. I had grown tired of the continually fluctuating indoor air temperatures. I was sick of worrying about my heating and cooling settings every time I left the house. It was stressing me out that I couldn’t effectively monitor my energy expenditure or change my heating and cooling settings if I was not presently in the facility. However, I had no idea that my smart thermostat was going to be so talkative. When I was taking the proctored exam my air quality control device kept sending me notifications about the increasing air temperature. As much as I appreciated hearing about these air quality changes, the proctor did not allow my air temperature updates in the middle of my test. I wound up failing my exam because they thought my thermostat was feeding me answers to the test.
