I am new to having radiant heated floors in my home.
They were actually working pretty well for me, until I did something that was quite careless on my part not even thinking.
One thing about radiant heated floors is that you have to be careful with them. Especially if you have tile floors. Well, some of the radiant heated floors I have are in my kitchen, and I ended up accidentally dropping a huge heavy bucket on them while cleaning the other week! Because of this, it ended up cracking the tile, which in turn messed up my radiant heated floors in the kitchen. I had to call my local heating and air conditioning company to have them send out one of their best and very certified heat and a/c specialists that knew all about the workings of radiant heated floors and how to repair radiant heated floors. The issue was fixed. However, it really cost me a lot of money! It is not the same as standard repair of a central heating and air conditioning system unit. They had to actually tear up the floors and then retile the area where I cracked it with the heavy bucket! I could not believe it! It was really a huge task. Point and case learned here was to be super careful when around my radiant heated floors. Do not drop heavy things on them and most of all, make sure there is nothing around the area of the radiant heated floors that will cause them to crack!
