One thing always happens when you are a service professional that has a specific scope of knowledge. Your friends always want you to help when they are in need. I got talked into helping a friend in need last weekend. I was going to spend my day at the beach with a fishing pole and a bag of bait. Instead, my friend called early in the morning for help with the air conditioner. Since I work for a local HVAC company, I am usually the person that everyone calls when they have trouble with the heating or air-conditioning equipment. Sometimes I like being the hero in these situations and then there are other times when it becomes a real pain in the butt. Brian called early in the morning because the air conditioner wasn’t working in the cooling mode. I knew that Brian was on the way to the beach so I decided to stop by to lend my helping hand. I realized quickly that Brian needed a new toggle switch but I didn’t have one on the truck. I tried to explain how to replace the item so Brian could complete the repair on his own, but he looked even more confused after I finished explaining the repair. I decided to ditch my plans for the beach and I hung out with Brian most of the day while we repaired the air conditioner. I missed some great fishing weather, but I knew Brian needed my help more than I needed to fish. Those bass and trout got a reprieve for the day, because I was going to pull in something big!
