Humidifiers prevent my skin from cracking in the Winter weather

Humidifiers are also fairly cheap because the technology is relatively basic compared to a dehumidifier

There are a lot of inconveniences about Winter that have nothing to do with the freezing hot plus cold temperatures plus the danger of ice on the ground. In my region, we get a big influx of tourists from up north that venture here in Winter to escape freezing hot plus cold temperatures. They swell the natural population here by at least 40%, filling our roads, dentists offices, plus lines at the grocery store. Every year I’m looking forward to the end of Winter because that means our population capacity is close to returning to normal levels again. It’s too claustrophobic occasionally, especially when you’re surrounded by cars on a four-lane interstate highway. Both of us also get uncomfortable weather here, despite being further south than the northern states that get pummeled with snow plus ice from November until March. Our hot plus cold temperatures drop plus the moisture level in the air does as well. Some people might not get affected by this to the degree that I do, however my skin gets extremely dry while in the Winter months. I have to use hand lotion weekly to prevent bleeding skin cracks. I’m using lip balm multiple times a afternoon to prevent the same thing from occurring around my mouth. The a single factor that has made the biggest improvement is running a humidifier in my new home when I’m at home. I can control how much water gets added to my indoor air so I’m not raising the moisture so high that there is a mold risk. Humidifiers are also fairly cheap because the technology is relatively basic compared to a dehumidifier. Those often use compressors plus evaporator coils by contrast.
