It’s a great feeling to look at my body and no longer want to hide it
After years of being overweight and feeling embarrassed about my physical appearance, I decided it was time to get healthy. The first change I made was with my eating habits. By eliminating things like candy and cookies from my shopping cart, I had no access to them at home. I started filling my refrigerator with more fruits, vegetables and lean proteins . This was only the first part of the challenge. Simply eating better wasn’t enough. I also started to count calories. I kept track of how many I was eating per day. I realized that my portion sizes at meal times were far larger than they needed to be. Whenever I was tempted to eat a second helping of food or felt like snacking, I would cut up carrots, celery or broccoli. It wasn’t long before I saw a difference on the scale and in the mirror. Right around this time, I heard about a new fitness center opening right on the same route I take to work every morning. They were offering a start up special of 50% off membership fees. I stopped in to see what the interior of the facility was like. This gym offers everything that I need for a beneficial workout. There is a weightlifting area, studios for group fitness classes and all kinds of cardio equipment. I signed up immediately and have been spending time at the gym five days per week every since. I managed to lose the weight by way of intense cardio. I then started lifting weights to build muscle tone. I have defined biceps and abs for the first time in my life. It’s a great feeling to look at my body and no longer want to hide it. It wasn’t easy getting in good health and shape, but my hard work was definitely worthwhile.
