Every year, my church hosts a shopping trip event for the ladies of the church together with their friends.
The object is always to give the ladies some time to enjoy themselves and go browsing for items they might like.
It is one of the most popular weekends of the year. Everyone gets together in small groups and chooses their own shopping destinations. The entire party, though, stays in the same hotel, and we have a meeting in a conference room during the first night to play games and have a question and answer session. Normally, this meeting is the best part of the trip, but last time, it ended up being miserable. At the start of the meeting, everything was great. The thermostat was set within the perfect temperature range, and the indoor air quality was amazing. We were all having a lot of fun.But after some time, though, we noticed that everything was getting colder. The air conditioning has been continuously running ever since we all started the meeting. The thermostat was fine while we were running and playing games, but once we stopped to have the more serious part of the meeting, the air conditioning was overbearing. It was the hottest part of summer, so we were all dressed up in light, summery clothes. Only a few of the older ladies had thought to pack a sweater. The pastor’s wife sent me to go ask the front desk about turning down the air conditioning. I left for the front desk, but they told me that the air conditioning was it’s normal temperature, and they were not sure they were authorized to adjust the thermostat. They had to call in a manager to get approval to adjust the thermostat. It was thirty minutes before we got some relief from the air conditioning!
