We went to a dinner party at my sister’s house the other night, but it was way too hot in the house. My sister and her husband have just gotten moved into their new house and so this was like a housewarming party and dinner party all put together. My sister was super excited about it, and I helped her plan the menu and everything. The only thing that she was not planning on was the fact that her central air conditioning system would stop working the day of the party. Since they had just moved into the house, I guess they thought that their heating and cooling system should last them for a very long time. However, come to find out, the factory warranty on their central air conditioning system had already lapsed and so there was no warranty on it at all. I felt really bad for her when she called me and told me that the air conditioning system had broken down on the day of the dinner party. She was practically in tears because the temperature outside that day was really hot. She was working in the kitchen and trying to get everything ready for the dinner, but she was sweating and feeling like she was going to be sick from her nerves. I told her not to panic. I told her that if we could not get the HVAC system fixed with an emergency call to our local heating and cooling company, then I would bring over my portable air conditioning unit for the evening.
