We are going to put a new living room in our garage.
I know that that probably sounds a little bit strange to most people, but actually several other people in my family have done this to get more living space in their homes.
We want to have some more living space, but we can’t actually build onto the outside of our house because of zoning constraints in our neighborhood. So, to get around that, we are just going to use the space that is in our garage to create more living space for our family. Of course, that’s going to keep us from having an enclosed garage, but that’s the least of my worries right now. Right now, we are actually worried about the heating and cooling system in our house. Since we are going to have so much extra living space once we get the garage fixed up, we have to decide what we’re going to do about the heating and cooling system out there. We do not want to run extra ductwork because that’s gonna be a huge pain and it’s also going to cost us quite a bit. We have decided that instead of using the HVAC system that’s in our current house, we are going to get something called a ductless mini split air conditioning and heating unit to put into the garage. That way it will have its own thermostat control. I don’t know if it’s the best option, but it’s the only thing that we can think of at this moment. I guess we will have to just wait and see.
