When I was a little one all of us had to walk to school, barefoot, in the snow, uphill both ways! And all of us still never made complaints about it.
Have you ever heard anyone talk in such a way, about how awful the little ones these days are and how good they used to be? I have found that this is essentially true across all generations.
The older folks always crap all over the younger folks. When I become an old man, I’m pretty sure I will be no different, however in fact I am already seeing glimpses of it in my attitude and my actions. I heard my friend’s son grumbling about how overheated it was inside, and the thermostat was showing 68 degrees. I told the child it wasn’t hot in the least, it was 68, and he scoffed at me, saying that the thermostat should never be set higher than 68 degrees. I almost smacked the kid, who has never paid a utility bill in his life, nor has he known more than a few hours separate from having perfect climate control. These types of kids have air conditioning at home, at school, while shopping, and in the way between it all. They honestly do not understand that climate control is a luxury, because they essentially take it for granted. If I had the possibility to do so I would show the child some tough love and remove the air conditioner appliance entirely for a few weeks. If not the whole thing, then at least a key Heating, Ventilation and A/C component that would make the appliance entirely inoperable, and basically give him a few weeks separate from any AC and see if he swings his tune!
