There’s a weird smell coming from my HVAC ducts.
I first noticed it last week when I switched the heating system over to the air conditioning system.
The weather had really started heating up fast, and I decided that I would try and get ahead of it by starting up the air conditioning earlier than usual this year. I always have a terrible time with the humidity control in my house, and running the air conditioning on a regular basis seems to help. Even when the temperature outside isn’t that hot, the A/C seems to help with humidity control. Unfortunately for me, even though I need to run my air conditioning to keep the humidity under control, I can’t turn it on now. Without the A/C running during the warm parts of the year, the inside of my house starts to feel like a sauna. The interior air quality of my house goes downhill very quickly without the A/C running. But since there’s this weird smell coming from my HVAC ducts, I can’t turn it on like I normally would. Without the A/C running, my house feels very humid. But with the A/C turned on, the whole house smells like the inside of a trash bag or something. I don’t really know what to do about this problem. I would rather have humidity control inside my house than to have everything smelling great. But the truth is that I don’t want to have to choose! I guess I will call my local HVAC company and see if they can come and clean out the ductwork for me. Hopefully a professional air duct cleaning will get rid of the terrible smell and I can run the A/C like I usually do.
