The repair required an extra helping hand

I rarely repair boilers, because I work for a residential HVAC company.

Most boilers are commercially used these days, and residential homes with boilers are very rare to find.

I visited a new customer on Monday with a compact boiler she was using for heat and hot water. The customer called because she noticed a few drops of water pooling on the side of the boiler. The boiler needed to be repaired right away, but I couldn’t handle the problem without an extra hand. The biggest issue was the placement of the repair. I needed to weld an area, but I needed a second pair of hands. I called a buddy that was working close by and I asked him to join me after he finished up. I waited an hour for the second person to show up, and then we got started on the repair. My coworker held all of my tools while I completed the boiler repair. We worked quickly as a team to complete the boiler repairs. When I was finished with the boiler repair, my co-worker and I went out to grab some lunch. Since he dropped everything to help, I decided to pay for both of us to get some burritos and tacos from a restaurant. We sat down and ate our lunch without a single interruption. The phone didn’t ring a single time. After lunch, we parted and went our separate ways. I finished my day with an AC repair, and my coworker headed over to the cannery to help with a refrigeration issue.
