The portable AC unit was a good choice for the guest room

After the kids moved out of the house, my wife and I needed a project to occupy our time.

We decided to turn the screened porch into a den and then a spare guest room.

We painted the walls and fixed the flooring. We hired a contractor to enclose the walls. Since the porch area doesn’t have any central heat or AC, it can be uncomfortable during the winter or summer days. When my sister came to visit last summer, she was very warm and uncomfortable. She complained about the indoor air temperatures after only one day. She was going to get a hotel room, but I protested. My wife told me that she would handle everything. While I was at work that day, my wife and my sister went to the hardware store to fix the problem. They bought a portable AC unit for the guest space. The portable AC unit was $339, but it looks nice. My sister is happier with the indoor air cooling machine. It has AC and a feature that allows us to remove the moisture from the room. I wish they would have waited for me, so I could have had some input in the decision. The portable AC unit requires a window to vent the warm air. It was a pain in the butt to set up the vent. The machine isn’t quite as portable as I expected. To be honest, a window AC would have been easier to install in my opinion. Thankfully, the AC works really well. It cools the room in under an hour.
