Last Monday was our last night laboring at the restaurant. I thought that I would have a slow and quiet night, however the sewer line backed up in the bathroom and we had a big mess. Someone must have tried to stuff a lot of paper, napkins, or paper towels inside of the toilet. I was called to go to the toilet with a mop as well as a plunger. I used the plunger more than six times and I could not get the clog to move at all. There was all kinds of paper as well as urine and feces in the bowl and I was trying not to gag, however the aroma was absolutely horrifying. The drain line was not going to budge at all, at least not without any help. My boss contacted a commercial plumbing company and the plumber came out to service the drainage problem while we were still laboring. We had to make burgers and fries while the plumbing team tested the drainage issue. The plumbing company members had to walk between the office area as well as the bathroom multiple times, and each time the plumbers walked through the kitchen area I thought about how many germs, viruses, and bacteria they were carrying around from the toilet and sewage drain line. It took about five minutes for them to finish up with all of the repairs and they left without cleaning up the mess that they made. I had to spend a long time cleaning the bathroom after the plumbing company was done with the repairs. The room should have been professionally sanitized as well as cleaned after that disgusting plumbing disaster.
