My sister is an HVAC technician here in town and she is the only woman that I know who is in the HVAC profession. When she first told our family that she wanted to become an HVAC technician, nobody really believed her. We all thought that she was joking! She has always been a really girly girl, and she never really liked to get her hands dirty when we were growing up. So when she said that she wanted to go into a type of service industry like heating and cooling, we thought that she had to be kidding. However, as she got older she apparently got very interested in the heating, cooling, and ventilation business. She had her mind set on becoming a female HVAC technician. If you know my sister, then you know that when she has her mind set on something, then she is definitely going to accomplish it. She is very stubborn and she sticks to things like you would not believe. So, as soon as she finished with high school, she enrolled at a local technical school where she attended the HVAC program. She did really well in the classes and she earned her HVAC certification and then went on to do an apprenticeship at one of our local heating and cooling companies here in town. Now, she is living her dream and working as an HVAC technician. She really loves her job, and I can’t believe that any of us ever doubted her. She loves being one of the only female HVAC technicians around, too.
