Dad says it pays to be an AC repair person

He always tried to hint to me that this was a possible option, but up until then, we had never spoken in length.

I was struggling with what to do after high school. My older sister had been to college, and all I remember is her complaining about how much she detested the experience. She jaded my desire to get a degree, and things got worse after she finished school. She was at home, without a job, and already in so much debt. By that time, I only had 2 years left in high school. Mom and dad wanted to know what plans I had for my future. But, I was hesitant to give them a definite answer. It was only after I spoke to my counselor at school that I made up my mind. My dad is an HVAC technician with almost 3 decades of experience. I’ve always loved being his assistant during the weekends and holidays. Before, it was all about the money he paid me at the end of each week. But, I had begun gaining an interest in the HVAC industry and spoke to him about it. He is a respected AC repair person in our community, and I see how much work he gets. We spoke in length about having a career in heating and cooling. Dad was so excited to share his industry with me. He always tried to hint to me that this was a possible option, but up until then, we had never spoken in length. He explained that if I trained in both heating and cooling, I would never be out of work. In fact, with all the modern HVAC technology coming up, young people were at an advantage of getting good jobs. He was already teaching me a lot about AC repairs and servicing, so I had a good foundation.
