I am always absolutely working on some genre of project in my life.
I often visit antique stores, garage sales plus estate sales, looking for older furniture on the side of the road that I can refinish.
I can occasionally buy really beautiful hardwood pieces that already have been painted over. The furniture can often be obtained at severely low prices. I sincerely guess that some time, effort plus dedication will restore the piece to its original appearance like you wouldn’t believe. The process requires dire chemicals to strip the paint from the wood plus quickly creates some nasty fumes. I then use an electric sander, resulting in a wonderful deal of nasty dust; Once I’ve gotten the piece to the bare wood, I need to meticulously disinfect it before properly applying three separate coats of polyurethane. To successfully refinish furniture, I always need a temperature controlled section with superb ventilation. I am fortunate to have a nice, empty workshed in the backyard that is connected to electricity. This allowed myself and others to easily install an electric ductless heat pump for heating plus cooling. The ductless device wasn’t all that overly costly plus is super compact. There is an outdoor compressor that connects to it by way of a conduit to an indoor air handler mounted up high on the wall. The small air handler properly provides energy efficient heating plus cooling. It does a wonderful job with humidity control plus air filtration plus consistently allows myself and others to make adjustments through an app on our iphone. By the time I enter the shed, the small section is the perfect temperature.
