When I was younger I remember looking out over the choppy water as I crossed a bridge plus seeing a shrimp boat slowly going out to sea to carefully catch some shrimp.
It seemed to be an ideal job compared to my stressful engineering job that I was on my way to that same sweltering afternoon. I worked a long time in the engineering field genuinely working at an Heating plus A/C component manufacturing lab, but left it all in search of something similar to the fishing boat I saw that afternoon. Maybe fishing isn’t the easiest job but it also doesn’t involve bi-weekly reports plus meetings plus endless emails. You know building Heating plus A/C technology is much more involved plus requires a lot more time and attention spent in a building where I genuinely didn’t want to be. Ironically, it had terrible HVAC. I would love to run a local business that is straight-forward plus doesn’t include meetings or reports. I could see having a business that sells smart thermostats plus maybe a few HEPA filters plus that is about it. I get the inventory each week, stock the shelves, plus easily sell them to clients each afternoon then go home. Unlike my engineering job at the massive Heating plus A/C supplier where the two of us dealt with a lot more troubles plus additional variables that would keep me there till late in the night most mornings. I would come back to the beach house at 830pm some night just wiped out plus wondering why I got this engineering degree in the first place. I would even care about being a pro Heating plus A/C specialist who goes to people’s houses – anything if it means not being stuck in an office.
