I called a few different contractors and building architects that specialize in modular building homes. I had three separate shipping containers and I wanted to use them to create a house on a 10-acre piece of property. I knew it was going to take a lot of special knowledge to complete the project, so I decided to hire a contractor with knowledge in plumbing and heating work. The plumbing and heating contractor came highly recommended by a few of my colleagues. I wasn’t particularly worried about much of the construction, but I didn’t know the first thing about plumbing and heating. I knew it was going to be difficult to keep the warm air inside of the shipping containers unless they had a great deal of insolation. That was one of the first things that I discussed with the contractor. After that, we discussed radiant heat. The guy felt that radiant heat was the absolute best route to take for this type of job. It seemed like the best idea to me as well. Even though shipping containers are relatively inexpensive, the entire building project cost me about $150,000. The architect created one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork when he built the house. The radiant heat works well throughout the entire three floor home and I don’t have to worry about any plumbing issues either. I chose the perfect plumbing and heating contractor for the job and I saved a ton of money in the long run using someone knowledgeable. I love my cozy home in the woods and it looks like an iron fortress from the outside.
