I have never seen my children so happy than when I said we would be renovating the second living room into a cinema room.
It had always been our plan since both of us moved to the house but since I wanted the kids to feel like they earned it I offered them an ultimatum, they had to clean and organize their rooms, finish all their meals and help me with chores during the weekend consistently without fail for a month.
The room was the furthest and the electric furnace that we used as our central heating system did not warm the room. I had consulted the local maintenance provider to find out if we could have a zone control system with our electric heat pump and also if it was possible to have radiant floor heating in the soon-to-be cinema room. The heating professional I had talked to told me that he had to make a home visit to be able to give accurate answers. After a morning, the heating tech came home to assess our whole-home furnace. After he was done he had both good and bad news. The bad news was that both of us had neglected the Heating and Air Conditioning installation by failing to get a furnace/heater tune-up and the unit had developed some problems but they would be fixed by a simple furnace heating system repair. This would explain why we were recently having troubles with temperature control. The good news was that it would be possible to install the underfloor heating but that meant both of us had to rip out the old flooring which both of us were planning to do from the start, then we would also need a new digital control unit to go with the update.
