I have never seen my children so excited than when I said we would be renovating the second living room into a cinema room.
It had always been our plan since we moved to the house but since I wanted the kids to feel like they earned it I gave them an ultimatum.
The three of them had to clean and organize their rooms, finish all their meals and help me with chores during the weekend consistently without fail for a month. The room was the furthest and the electric heating system that we used as our central heater did not adequately warm the room. I had consulted the local service provider to find out if we could have a zone control system with our electric heat pump and also if it was possible to have radiant floor heating in the soon-to-be cinema room. The heating technician I had talked to told me that he had to make a home visit to be able to give accurate answers. After a day, the heating contractor came home to assess our whole-home heating system. After he was done he had both good and bad news. The bad news was that we had neglected the HVAC installation by failing to get a furnace/heater tune-up and the unit had developed some issues but they would be fixed by a simple furnace heater repair. This would explain why we were recently having troubles with temperature control. The good news was that it would be possible to install the underfloor heating but that meant we had to rip out the old flooring which we were planning to do from the beginning. We would also need a new digital thermostat to go with the upgrade.
