I studied up on it plus found that although a heat pump is more costly upfront to purchase plus install than an a/c, it can quickly pay for itself in energy savings over time. The heat pump can do everything that an a/c could provide. It will absolutely be so much better at combating excess humidity. Where the heat pump is really beneficial is whenever the weather cools off. It is far more energy efficient than the gas heating system. Because I know a heat pump takes advantage of existing heat, rather than burning fossil fuels, it costs a lot less to run than the heating system.
