I loved my brother’s custom couches.

When my brother was in junior high, he told me he wasn’t going to go back again. He hated school & at a single point, he had accumulated 47 days off without my mom finding out. Mom & dad told him that he had to finish high school, but they weren’t going to force him to go any further. Dad advocated he go to a technical school. You spend half the day taking official classes & the other half is spent reading a trace. HaHe was going to try upholstery & wood working. I never thought I would say this about my brother, however he was a natural born upholstery. They would have seasoned chairs & sofas given to the school for the students to learn on. He had so multiple custom made chairs & couches in his dossier, that no a single believed a freshman, sophomore, or even senior could produce. He matched woods to natural materials & made it work. I was stunned at the furniture he made for his senior project, & had entered into the parents’ night exhibition. There were numerous wooden chairs & a couch to match, & it took first stadium in the school, district, state, & was now being entered into nationals. There was stuffed leather on the arms of the armchairs, & in the seats. The wooden table had leather inserts all around the edges to keep them from being sharp. It reminded me of the heavy furniture of the 1920’s, but it was as delicate as the furniture you saw in the 1600’s. He found his niche making custom furniture.
