I worked for a local HVAC repair company for nearly ten years. I enjoyed the job, but I didn’t find it challenging. I enjoyed the people and my coworkers were great, but I felt unsatisfied. A few years ago I decided to take a job as a contractor for HVAC work abroad. I got to spend two years in another country. I learned a lot about the world and a lot about myself during that trip. While I was working on the HVAC job, I learned a lot about wind and water energy and how it can be used for heating and air conditioning. I used the knowledge that I learned to create a business of my own. I work as a consultant for companies that want to use wind or water for heating and cooling. Last month I spent three weeks in the desert. I was helping a company come up with a few ideas for using wind energy to cool a factory. It was a lot of fun to work on the job, but I have to say it was difficult to spend three weeks in the desert in the middle of the summer season. It was extremely warm and uncomfortable. Everyday the temperatures were over 100°. Oftentimes the air conditioner doesn’t work after 3 p.m. I thought it was hot and uncomfortable down south, but I would much rather spend a day in the swamp than a day in the desert. I don’t know why anyone would choose to build a factory in the middle of nothing.
