HVAC cooling doesn’t have to be super expensive

I often hear from folks who have recently moved to our area when it comes to the heat of summer.

While it’s no secret that our summers are hot and humid to the extreme, it’s another thing to experience it for the first time. And so many people who are new to this region tend to then over do the air conditioning. That’s just sort of the reaction. If it’s really hot, just adding more HVAC cooling will solve it. As one who grew up with this sort of heat, that isn’t necessarily true. Pouring on the air conditioning can sort of make the problem feel worse really. And the cost of HVAC cooling in the summer can get really expensive and quick. Not to mention how much resources are being wasted when over HVAC cooling a house. I tell all the newcomers to the area the same thing, acclimate to the heat. That means when the temperatures begin to rise in the spring, start adjusting to the heat. Instead of going right for the thermostat, pump the brakes on hit the air conditioning button for a while. This allows the body to become more accustomed to higher temperatures. And by the time the real heat of summer hits, HVAC cooling in moderation really feels great. For instance, when it’s sitting next to a hundred outside during the summer, a thermostat setting in the low 80’s feels really cool. This also saves a great deal of money on HVAC utility costs as well. So don’t just pour on the air conditioning to deal with the heat, get used to it a little bit.
