There is no doubt that our area’s largest weather concern is the summer time heat. We don’t have to worry about snowstorms or ice. There isn’t a furnace in the basement as the Heating and Air Conditioning heating method. Nope, it’s the heat around here that makes all the people rest up and take notice. The heat can entirely be a health hazard if one isn’t careful. However, the largest concern to me is the cost of the Heating and Air Conditioning cooling. The summertime Heating and Air Conditioning output is by far the most of the year. And, it really rings up the utility costs. Each Spring, I act as though I am really going to get dire about saving money on the Heating and Air Conditioning. And each year, I fold up on that commitment before June is even over. Well, this year was different. With the economic impact of the pandemic, I really had to make sure that I split our spending wherever I could. The Heating and Air Conditioning summer time costs were a great target. So, I started by sealing up the house. I updated weather stripping and sealed up any gaps I could find on the exterior. Then, I moved to mitigate the effects of direct sun heating. This was a collaborative effort with my wife as every one of us chose some curtains that were both stylish and designed to stop direct sun heating. But ultimately, it came down to the Heating and Air Conditioning temperature control. This was a behavioral issue that would really test us. But after some initial wavering, every one of us really kept our Heating and Air Conditioning setting discipline. And now that summer time is over, every one of us saved hundreds.
