Group fitness class did not bond us after all

I have been trying to make an effort with my brother’s girlfriend since they are now engaged.

The two of us just have nothing in common.

When we talk it is awkward. There is no common ground for us at all. I decided that maybe the two of us should do an activity. Perhaps that would break the ice and get us closer as friends. I signed us up for a group physical training class. The class is two times a week and focuses on weightlifting. I always wanted to tone my arms and the class is said to do it. The personal trainer mostly has us work in a big group doing lifting exercises. Occasionally we will pair up and toss weighted balls back and forth. There are even weighted ropes and poles that we use too. I love the group fitness class and look forward to it every week. My brother’s girlfriend clearly hates it. She bitterly complains about being sore and not wanting to look like a man. She doesn’t see the point in lifting weights. Also, she will frequently dog it on the exercises or just not do them. I am appalled by this behavior. I have almost told her not to come. But that seems really mean of me right? I don’t want her to ruin my group fitness class or upset my personal trainer though. I love it so much. I guess this is not our thing that will bond the two of us after all. I might have her pick the next thing we try.
