Weekends are for relaxing in my mind.
But in reality, there are so many things to catch up on over the weekend.
All those chores that I didn’t have time for because of all the hours in zone controlled HVAC at work have to get done. And it always ends up landing on my weekends. For too long, I just sort of made a passing effort at my chores on the weekend. I just so didn’t want to be doing any of that. Instead, I wanted to be on a golf course or doing something fun with the kids. So I decided to set alerts on my devices through the week to take care of stuff so it wouldn’t ruin my weekend. Instead of coming home and sitting back in the air conditioning, I try to do one or two chores from my list. And one of the things that I have finally now gotten consistent about is the HVAC equipment. I’ve been known to allow a dirty, clogged air filter to go unchanged for a few months. That’s just not getting it done. The HVAC equipment is too essential to our home to let that happen. A dirty HVAC air filter simply makes the HVAC unit work harder to do it’s heating and cooling job. That’s more energy wasted and more wear and tear on the heating and cooling equipment. Plus, it takes like five minutes to change the HVAC filter for crying out loud. Getting this stuff done during the week is freeing up my weekend, making me look good around the house and protecting the HVAC unit.
