The weather is just starting to cool down around here and so the other night, I turned on my gas fireplace for the first time this year.
Or at least, I tried to turn my gas fireplace on.
Nothing really happened when I turned it on and I wasn’t really sure what to do. I have to admit that I’m a little bit intimidated by the gas that runs the gas fireplace. Anything that involves gas, even the gas stove in my kitchen, scares me. I don’t even want to mess around with it to try and fix it. Since the weather was cooling down, I really wanted to build a fire in the fireplace so I went ahead and called the HVAC company to see if they could send someone out for a repair appointment. They said that they would send an HVAC technician right out to fix the fireplace so I sat down to wait. Usually, if I have to call the heating and cooling company, I make sure that I set a time where they come when my husband will be home instead of me. That way, I won’t have to deal with them or answer questions about the HVAC system. I don’t know a single thing about our furnace, or air conditioning system, or our fireplace and so I always feel dumb when the HVAC technician shows up and starts asking me questions. This time, though, I was willing to deal with the repair appointment. After all, my husband wasn’t the one who wanted the fire in the fireplace!
