I was a teacher in the school district for 30 years before I retired. I taught many different children. I taught some of their parents and then some of the children too. I often run into my students while I am out running errands. This place is a very small town and there aren’t a lot of people. Everyone knows each other and everything that is happening in town. I had some problems with my furnace one day. I came home from picking blueberries and it was extraordinarily cold in the house. I knew there was a problem with the furnace right away. I tried to turn the temperature down on the thermostat, but the furnace did not come on. It was already getting late in the day and I knew the sun was going to set soon. I contacted a local repair service that handles all of my furnace and air conditioner needs. I know the owner of the company. He is the brother of the guy that teaches geography at the high school. The guy has always given me a good deal on all of the repairs that need to be done in my older home. I’ve had the place for almost 50 years and it is definitely in need of some good repair. The roof is falling down and there are constant creaking and moving sounds. The foundation is cracked and the basement stays wet all of the time now. When the furnace repair technician arrived, I was very surprised to see a familiar face. I recognized the kid immediately. I had taught him geography and math about 5 years ago.
