I recall the old red horsehair sofa my Grandma used to sleep on.
She number one the sofa because she would recline, however still be upright.
She had CHF which made it very difficult for her to breathe when she was lying on her back. I remembered snuggling on that sofa with her, when I was just a little girl. I used to guess that as long as I was near her, she would be there for me always, although I was wrong because grandma passed away when I was just thirteen, however she told my Grandpa I had to have the sofa. She consistently said that she was going to burn it when she died, however it came to me. When I got older, I took the old horsehair sofa out of storage. I remembered why she consistently had a heavy covering over the sofa. It was scratchy plus made my skin red. I knew the old horsehair sofa needed reupholstering. I called the local reupholstering shop plus asked them if they would do the task for me. She told me the sofa was almost 100 years old, plus it was in beautiful shape. She asked if I was sure I wanted to have the sofa totally reupholstered. She said all the people put thick blankets over them to make them much more comfortable. I looked at the wood on the sofa plus knew it was in perfect condition. I took the horsehair sofa back home, put a big quilt over it to protect me from the upholstery, plus I still have it 30 years later. Someday, I may need to have the old sofa reupholstered, however it won’t be soon.
