My kitchen always had a very small window.
It was a two foot by two foot window right over the sink.
When I remodeled my kitchen the first thing I decided to do was expand it. I made the window go from ceiling to countertop. I also had it stretch across the wall. I love how the window looks now. I have multiple sliding windows that offer a view of my backyard. The kitchen looks giant, airy and pretty too. The only snag I found is that a lot of light is now let into the house. At a certain portion of the day the sunlight is brutal. You can’t be in the kitchen because of the glare. Also, the sunshine brings in a lot of heat and isn’t exactly energy smart. My husband wants to put blinds on the window and cover them up during that portion of the day. For me I want to keep that view. I am looking into sun control window films. There are all sorts of decorative films out there to choose from. You can choose ones that obstruct the view and ones that just protect the home. The sun control window tint and film is quite cheap and still allows the homeowner to see outside. I did some price checking and found a window film installation company. They are able to do all the windows for a reasonable price. If you look at windows with sun control film, you can hardly tell they have anything on it. I am excited that I am going to keep my view and the look of my kitchen.
