I live in an area that is known as the “snow belt.” We are located right along the edge of one of the Great Lakes and experience heavy snowfall every winter. I regularly start up the oil furnace in mid October and keep it running until late March. It’s not odd for the temperature to remain below freezing for months at a time. We sometimes suffer through temperatures down to twenty-five below zero. The Winter time season is a large amount of work and expense. Along with paying gigantic heating bills, there’s snow removal to deal with. Hiring someone to plow the driveway is expensive, however shoveling the driveway and sidewalks is exhausting, labor-intensive and time-consuming.
